OPHK Records 202% Surge in Terrorist Surrenders Amid Sustained Military Offensive
The Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded a 202 per cent week-on-week increase in the number of terrorists surrendering to troops amid intensified military operations against terrorist groups across the region.
The Theatre Command said the number of terrorist commanders, fighters and affiliates who surrendered rose from more than 50 in the previous week to over 150 in the week under review.
It attributed the surge to sustained intelligence-led operations, intensified military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic measures aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and encouraging voluntary disengagement from terrorism.
According to the task force, the development is a significant indication of increasing pressure within terrorist formations, particularly on their freedom of movement, logistics, sustainment and ability to retain personnel in their enclaves.
The recovery of weapons and ammunition from some of the surrendering terrorists, it added, further demonstrated the operational impact of sustained pressure on the terrorist networks.

The Theatre Command said the increase in surrenders also reflected the effectiveness of its comprehensive counter-insurgency strategy, which combines intelligence-led military operations with strategic communication, civil-military engagement and other non-kinetic initiatives.
It noted that the combined efforts were disrupting terrorist activities and support networks, weakening hostile narratives and encouraging more members of the groups to abandon terrorism.
The command emphasised the role of strategic communication in encouraging terrorists willing to disengage while exposing the consequences of continued association with terrorist organisations.
It added that all persons who surrender are profiled, documented and handled in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws.
“The Theatre will continue to exploit the current momentum to encourage further disengagement and weaken terrorist recruitment and sustainment mechanisms,” the statement said.
The Military High Command commended troops for their resilience, discipline and operational effectiveness, urging them to sustain the momentum and continue to deny terrorist elements freedom of action across the theatre.
Operation HADIN KAI, the command said, remained committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks, disrupting their capabilities and support structures, protecting civilians and creating the conditions for the restoration of lasting peace, security and normalcy across the North-East.
