Police Nab 3 Car Snatchers, Recover 2 Vehicles in Kaduna, Abuja
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate operating across Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during coordinated operations conducted between August 14 and 19, 2026, following actionable intelligence on the activities of the criminal network.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, the suspects identified as Ahmed Saidu, also known as Diamond ‘M’; Alex Gabriel, also known as Junior ‘M’; and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond ‘M’, were arrested in connection with a series of armed robbery operations involving the snatching of vehicles at gunpoint.

Iniedu said the suspects, during interrogation, reportedly confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities and implicated one Yakubu Yewa, alias Y/Come, as the alleged kingpin of the syndicate.
He said investigation revealed that Yewa was already in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery.
“Further investigation indicates that the alleged kingpin coordinated and directed the syndicate’s armed robbery operations, as well as the disposal of stolen vehicles both within Nigeria and outside the country,” the statement said.
The police said operatives recovered two vehicles during the operations: a red Toyota Corolla and an army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
