Troops Arrest Five Suspected Terrorist Logistics Suppliers, Repel Ambush in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, intercepted items allegedly destined for terrorist couriers and vendors, and repelled an attempted ambush in separate operations across Borno State.
The operations, conducted by troops of 3 Battalion (Motorised) and 115 Task Force Battalion in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), resulted in the recovery of vehicles, petroleum products, assorted medicines, a pistol and ammunition.
In Ngala Local Government Area, troops of 3 Battalion arrested five suspects during a targeted operation conducted at about 5:35 p.m. on August 28 in Ladari and Gamboru Garage areas of Gamboru-Ngala.
Security sources said troops arrested 35-year-old Ali Dala at Ladari, while four other suspects—Babagana Amarja, 41; Garba Mohammed, 37; Abdullahi Mohammed, 53; and Mado Ali, 39—were apprehended at Gamboru Garage.
The troops also intercepted several vehicles and logistics items suspected to have been intended for delivery to terrorist couriers and vendors operating in Gamboru and adjoining communities.

The vehicles recovered included a white Volkswagen Golf 3 wagon with registration number A877 DKW; a black Golf 3 wagon with registration number ACA 787 AAC; a red Golf 3 wagon with registration number GAS 35; and a brown Vendon saloon car with registration number KBG 14 XA.
Other items recovered were eight jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and a sack containing assorted medicines concealed inside a sack of charcoal.
In a separate operation in Askira-Uba Local Government Area, troops of 115 Task Force Battalion, working with CJTF members, repelled an attempted terrorist attack in Rumirigo.
The encounter occurred at about 11:10 p.m. on August 29, when troops occupying an ambush position in the area made contact with suspected terrorists.
The troops responded with controlled fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.
During a subsequent search of the area, the troops recovered one pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, which were secured for further investigation and necessary action.
The five suspects and recovered logistics from Gamboru-Ngala are also being held by 3 Battalion for further investigation.
The operations are part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and supply networks, while maintaining pressure on armed groups operating across the North-East.
Security sources said the overall situation in the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remained satisfactory.
