FG Launches ‘Hire from Nigeria’ Campaign, Targets One Million Jobs
The Federal Government has launched the “Hire from Nigeria” Campaign, a major initiative aimed at positioning Nigerian professionals and digitally delivered services in the global market and creating one million export-linked jobs over the next five years.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja at the official public presentation of the campaign at Radio House.
Idris said the initiative marked a shift in Nigeria’s traditional approach to exports, with greater emphasis now being placed on the country’s human capital, skills, creativity and professional services.
He said the global economy had evolved beyond the movement of physical goods, allowing knowledge, skills and services to cross borders digitally.
According to him, Nigeria is well positioned to compete in the emerging global talent economy because of its large youthful population, growing pool of skilled professionals, entrepreneurial culture, English-language proficiency and expanding capabilities in technology, creative services and business support.
“Hire from Nigeria” is a public-private initiative involving the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Federal Ministry of Education, National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), Bank of Industry’s iDICE programme and other domestic and international private-sector partners.
The Information Minister said communication would be central to the success of the initiative, stressing that Nigeria must not only develop talent but also ensure that the global market is aware of the quality and capacity of its professionals.
He pledged the support of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in promoting the campaign through its communication platforms, agencies and partnerships.
“We have a responsibility to ensure that the story of Nigerian talent is told clearly, credibly and consistently,” Idris said.

He added that the government would use the campaign to communicate directly with employers, investors and businesses worldwide, emphasising that Nigeria has skilled people ready to compete and collaborate in the international marketplace.
The Minister also encouraged young Nigerians to take advantage of opportunities offered by the digital economy, noting that they no longer need to relocate abroad to participate in the global workforce.
“With the right skills, infrastructure, professional standards, and access to markets, Nigerians can live and work and earn here at home, while providing valuable services to clients and employers worldwide,” he said.
Idris said such an approach would generate foreign exchange inflows, increase tax revenues and expand Nigeria’s skills and knowledge base.
He linked the initiative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on job creation, economic diversification, skills development, global integration and youth empowerment.
According to him, the Federal Government has set an ambition of creating one million export-linked jobs within five years as part of its strategy to make Nigeria a major hub for talent and services exports.
He stressed, however, that achieving the target would require sustained collaboration between government and the private sector, training institutions and employers, technology companies and young professionals, as well as stronger connections between Nigerian talent and international markets.
The Minister said activities would build towards the global launch of the campaign during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, providing an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its human capital to a wider international audience.
He urged stakeholders to ensure that “Hire from Nigeria” becomes more than a promotional campaign, but evolves into a sustainable platform connecting Nigerian professionals with global opportunities.
“The message of today is therefore simple: Nigeria is ready to compete on the global stage. Nigerian talent is ready to work. And the world should look to Nigeria,” Idris said.
