CDS Commends Air Peace for Honouring Military, Police Personnel
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has commended Air Peace for recognising the sacrifices of Nigerian military and police personnel in the service of the country.
The CDS expressed appreciation for a recent gesture by the airline, during which its staff and passengers gave Nigerian military personnel a spontaneous standing ovation while boarding a flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this on Monday while presenting the monthly briefing on ongoing military operations for August 2026 at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the gesture followed a directive by the Chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, that military and police personnel be accorded priority boarding and applauded in recognition of their service and sacrifices.

Oluyede described the gesture as a heartfelt expression of goodwill towards the nation’s security forces and encouraged other corporate organisations, institutions and citizens to similarly support and recognise personnel who continue to defend the country.
The CDS also commended troops across the various theatres of operation for their gallantry, discipline, resilience and commitment, particularly in rescuing abducted citizens, combating terrorists and armed criminals, disrupting criminal networks and protecting critical national assets.
He further appreciated the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, local security groups and other stakeholders for the operational synergy contributing to the successes recorded by the Armed Forces.
The Defence Headquarters said the Armed Forces would sustain the current operational tempo while working with relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property, defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and consolidate peace and security across the country.
The military also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to the nearest military formation or through the toll-free line 193, assuring that such information would be treated confidentially.
