Troops Overrun Terrorist Hideouts, Seize Machine Gun, AK-47s in Sokoto
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s COAS Intervention Battalion 7, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dislodged terrorist elements and recovered weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during clearance operations in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation is part of ongoing offensive efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore security across the North-West.
The troops advanced through identified terrorist threat areas, including Manu, Alkasim and Kandam villages, as well as the Magarya forest axis.

According to a statement on the operation, troops made contact with the terrorists in the Magarya forest and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.
A subsequent pursuit and extensive search of the area resulted in the recovery of significant arms, ammunition and mobility assets.
The recovered items included a PKT machine gun, AK-47 rifles, a large quantity of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, motorcycles and assorted logistical and miscellaneous items.
The Army said troops have maintained a strong operational posture and continued to dominate the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to safeguard surrounding communities.
The operation underscores the military’s ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to degrade terrorist networks, deny them freedom of movement and dismantle their operational enclaves across the North-West.
