Nigerian Army Redeploys Generals to Key Operational, Strategic Commands
The Nigerian Army has announced a major redeployment of senior officers to key command, operational and staff positions as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and improve the country’s response to evolving security threats.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, approved the postings, which affect several major formations, operational theatres and strategic institutions across the Service.

Under the new arrangement, Major General IA Ajose moves from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations to the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, as Theatre Commander.
His predecessor, Major General AE Abubakar, has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research.
Major General AM Alechenu also moves from Defence Headquarters Garrison to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, while Major General RT Utsaha moves from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Defence Headquarters Garrison as Commander.
In other senior appointments, Major General AM Umar moves from the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs to the Army War College Nigeria as Commandant, while Major General UM Alkali moves from the War College to the Department of Civil-Military Affairs.
Major General GS Muhammed, who moves from the Office of the National Security Adviser, has been appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation, while Major General JE Osifo moves from NAFIC to the Military Pension Board as Chairman.
Major General IE Ekpenyong has also been redeployed to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Logistics as Director of Engineering Services.

At the operational level, Brigadier General AA Bello moves from 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 Joint Task Force, Operation DELTA SAFE, to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Operations.
Brigadier General MS Adamu has been appointed Commander of the newly established 8 Brigade after his redeployment from the Nigerian Army Women Command.
Brigadier General MS Sule moves from Special Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE to become Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade.
Other changes include the redeployment of Brigadier General I Sule from the Directorate of Recruitment Management to 6 Division Garrison as Commander, while Brigadier General E Azenda moves from the Land Forces Simulation Centre to 2 Division Garrison as Commander.
Brigadier General AS Bugaje, formerly Commander of 2 Division Garrison, moves to the Land Forces Simulation Centre as Director of Administration.
The Army said the leadership changes were designed to ensure that officers with the appropriate experience and expertise are positioned in critical operational and strategic appointments.
It said the exercise would also strengthen leadership, improve joint and inter-agency coordination and enhance the Service’s capacity to respond decisively to contemporary and emerging security threats.
The COAS charged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence placed in them through exemplary leadership, operational innovation and professionalism.
He also tasked them with maintaining an unwavering commitment to the constitutional mandate of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty, protecting its territorial integrity and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
The Army said it remained committed to sustaining a dynamic leadership and force-employment framework capable of delivering improved operational outcomes in furtherance of Nigeria’s national security objectives.
