Troops Repel Terrorist Attack on Pulka Base, Eliminate One, Rescue Mother, Daughter in Borno
Troops have repelled an attempted terrorist infiltration of a military base in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one terrorist, while separately rescuing a woman and her daughter who escaped from captivity in the Mandara Mountains.
The attempted attack occurred at about 10 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, when suspected terrorists tried to infiltrate the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Pulka.
According to a security report, troops responded swiftly and engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw from the area. A reinforcement team from 26 Task Force Brigade, Garrison, subsequently moved to the location and further compelled the terrorists to retreat.
One terrorist was neutralised during the encounter, while two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds. Three tyres of Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles deployed at the base were also damaged during the attack.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to the 7 Division Military Hospital, where they are receiving treatment and are reportedly in stable condition.

In a separate development on Tuesday morning, troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion rescued a woman and her daughter after they escaped from a terrorist camp in the Mandara Mountains.
The duo were intercepted by troops at about 7 a.m. after escaping from the Huje terrorist camp in the Mandara Mountain area.
The woman, an indigene of Chinene in Borno State, was reportedly subjected to forced child marriage in 2025. Troops provided immediate protection to the mother and her daughter before handing them over to authorities at the Pulka Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza.
The developments underscore the continuing security and humanitarian challenges in communities around the Mandara Mountains, where terrorist activities have subjected civilians to abductions, forced displacement and other forms of abuse.
Security forces have maintained operations in the area to disrupt terrorist movements, protect military positions, rescue civilians held in captivity and facilitate the safe return of displaced residents.
The rescued mother and daughter are expected to receive humanitarian assistance and other necessary support at the IDP camp as authorities continue efforts to address the consequences of their ordeal.
