NAF Commissions Education Project in Kano to Boost Security, Community Relations
The Nigerian Air Force has commissioned a Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project at Government Secondary School, Bichi, Kano State, as part of efforts to strengthen community development, civil-military relations and security through citizen engagement.
The project was commissioned on Thursday, September 10, 2026, by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who was represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal E.K. Gabkwet.
The intervention was executed in honour of Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Sabiu Ibrahim and is designed to improve community welfare, strengthen public trust and foster closer cooperation between the military and residents.
The CAS said contemporary security challenges required a whole-of-society approach in which military operations were complemented by meaningful engagement with local communities.

The project comprises the renovation and furnishing of four classrooms, rehabilitation and equipping of the school clinic and sports office, as well as the construction of a modern mosque.
According to the Air Force, the facilities are expected to improve the learning environment and enhance the welfare of students and members of the host community.
Aneke said the CAS Special Intervention Project Programme had become one of the Nigerian Air Force’s impactful civil-military initiatives, with 18 projects completed across the country and several others ongoing.
He said such interventions were aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Armed Forces and the communities they serve, thereby creating an environment conducive to improved intelligence sharing and enhanced operational effectiveness.
The Chief of the Air Staff urged members of the community to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on security threats.
He stressed that stronger communities and closer cooperation between citizens and security agencies remained essential to achieving sustainable peace and security.
