NIS Graduates 1,626 Officers in Kano, Harps on Border Security, Migration Control
The Nigeria Immigration Service has graduated 1,626 officers from its Fourth Combined and Upgrading Course, 2026, with a charge to strengthen professionalism in border security and migration management.
The officers were formally passed out during a ceremony held at the Immigration Training School, Kano, and the Digital Bridge Institute, after completing a training programme aimed at enhancing their professional competence and operational capacity.
The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI AS Akinlabi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
Representing the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, at the ceremony, the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Management, SU Agba, congratulated the graduating officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in carrying out their statutory duties.

Nandap emphasised the growing importance of technology in strengthening Nigeria’s border management architecture, noting that it remained a critical enabler in addressing contemporary border security and migration management challenges.
She also reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to the continuous training, professional upgrading and welfare of its personnel.
The Commandant of the Immigration Training School, Kano, AN Akuneme, described the course as historic, saying the school mobilised a record number of cadets for the programme, making it the largest training exercise in the institution’s history.
Akuneme charged the newly graduated officers to remain responsive to the evolving demands of border management by facilitating legitimate migration while preventing irregular migration and trans-border threats.
The ceremony featured the presentation of merit awards to outstanding participants, while the commissioning of an ultra-modern market constructed by the course participants formed one of its major highlights.
Senior serving and retired officers of the NIS, alongside representatives of other security agencies, attended the passing-out ceremony.
