Pantami Support Group Mobilises PDP Members for September 29 Gombe Governorship Primary
The Pantami Global Support Network (PGSN) has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Gombe State to participate in the fresh governorship primary scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and support former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
The mobilisation follows the recent Federal High Court judgment directing the PDP to conduct a fresh governorship primary after nullifying the earlier exercise that produced Pantami as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Dr Muhammad Tukur, the group urged eligible PDP members to turn out in large numbers and participate peacefully in the exercise, in accordance with the party’s constitution, electoral guidelines and accreditation procedures.
According to the statement, accreditation will commence at 8 a.m., while members are expected to confirm their designated voting points with their respective ward secretariats.
The group advised participants to present valid PDP membership cards, appropriate means of identification, Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), where applicable, and any additional documents required under the party’s guidelines.
It also encouraged intending participants who have yet to obtain their PDP membership cards to register through the party’s official website and subsequently authenticate their membership at their respective ward offices.
Such members, it said, would be required to present passport photographs during the authentication process.

PGSN described the fresh primary as an opportunity for party members to participate in the selection of the PDP’s governorship candidate while demonstrating their commitment to internal democracy, due process and party unity.
The group specifically called on eligible members to vote for Pantami, whom it identified as its preferred aspirant in the repeat exercise.
It also urged supporters to remain vigilant throughout the process while maintaining peace, discipline and mutual respect.
The mobilisation comes after the Federal High Court in Gombe ordered the PDP to repeat its governorship primary following legal challenges to the May 26 exercise that produced Pantami as the party’s candidate.
The dispute arose after several aspirants challenged their disqualification from the earlier primary, raising questions about compliance with the party’s internal procedures.
Following the judgment, the PDP’s national leadership notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its decision to conduct a fresh primary on September 29.
The party’s Gombe State chapter also announced arrangements for the exercise, directing eligible members to obtain information about their designated voting points from their ward secretariats.
PGSN urged its members and other eligible PDP supporters to comply with the announced procedures and avoid conduct capable of disrupting the primary.
The group said its mobilisation was intended to support Pantami’s participation in the fresh exercise while promoting orderly conduct among party members.
The statement did not provide details of the number of members expected to participate or identify other aspirants contesting the governorship ticket.
The September 29 primary is expected to determine the PDP’s candidate for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election, subject to the applicable party rules and the court’s directives.
