Troops raid terrorist hideout in Sokoto, kill one, recover firearm
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle, motorcycle and other items during a raid on a suspected terrorist hideout in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops, acting on credible intelligence, advanced on a suspected terrorist camp in the vicinity of Karani village, where they made contact with the hostile elements.

The terrorists reportedly engaged the troops but were overwhelmed by the troops’ firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the terrorists, while others fled into the surrounding area.
A subsequent search of the camp led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle loaded with live ammunition, an operational motorcycle, military camouflage uniforms, as well as maintenance tools and other logistical supplies.
Following the encounter, the troops extended their operation to the surrounding forest axis in a clearance operation aimed at dominating the area and denying the fleeing terrorists freedom of action.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to disrupt terrorist activities and dismantle their operational infrastructure across the North-West.
