Military Records 367 Attacks, Kills 52 Terrorists in September
The Defence Headquarters has said troops recorded 367 terrorist attacks and other security incidents across the country in September, while neutralising 52 terrorists during military operations.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this on Wednesday at the Defence Headquarters’ monthly and third-quarter operational briefing.
Onoja said the incidents were recorded across the various operational theatres as troops sustained offensives against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, oil thieves and other criminal elements.
According to him, troops also arrested scores of suspects, rescued kidnapped civilians and recovered arms, ammunition and other military hardware during the operations.

In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai continued offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
The military also recorded the surrender of insurgents and their family members during the month, with some of the defectors citing hunger, dwindling supplies and harsh living conditions in their hideouts.
Onoja said the operations were part of efforts to degrade terrorist and criminal networks, deny them freedom of action and create conditions for the restoration of peace in affected communities.
He added that troops continued to collaborate with other security agencies and local security groups to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve responses to emerging threats.
The Director urged members of the public, traditional rulers and community leaders to provide timely and credible information to security agencies through military formations or the toll-free line 193.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the troops for their commitment and sacrifices, while urging Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces in ongoing security operations.
