Troops, DIA Team Raid Criminal Hideout, Recover Machine Gun in Taraba
Troops of the 114 Battalion (Reinforcement), in collaboration with a composite team of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), have recovered a submachine gun and assorted ammunition during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Taraba State.
The operation was conducted at about 3 p.m. on October 3, 2026, at Abbare in Lau Local Government Area of the state, according to security sources.

The sources said the joint team recovered one submachine gun, one magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition and five rounds of 9mm ammunition.
They said no contact was established with the suspected criminals during the operation, while no arrest was made.
The recovered weapon and ammunition have been taken into military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the security forces to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts, recover illicit weapons and disrupt the activities of armed groups operating in the region.
