NAF 931 Crash: Site Secured, Evidence Being Documented, Says Investigation Team Lead, AVM Ebiowe
The Head of the Investigation and Recovery Team, Air Vice Marshal EOE Ebiowe, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to a professional and evidence-driven investigation into the NAF ATR 42 aircraft, NAF 931, accident at Igbokoda, Ondo State.
Ebiowe, who is coordinating the ongoing search, recovery and investigative operation, said the exercise was progressing in close collaboration with relevant aviation, security and emergency-response agencies.
He disclosed that the crash site remained secured to protect the integrity of the investigation, while recovered items and other relevant evidence were being systematically documented and preserved for further examination.
His comments came as the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, visited Igbokoda on Wednesday, October 8, to assess the ongoing operation and receive an update on the recovery and investigation efforts.
Ebiowe’s team is responsible for coordinating the technical recovery process and ensuring that materials recovered from the accident site are properly handled and preserved in line with established investigative procedures.

The Air Vice Marshal’s approach is expected to ensure that the investigation is guided by verifiable evidence rather than speculation, with the NAF cautioning against premature conclusions on the cause of the accident.
Aneke, during the visit, commended the personnel involved in the operation and assured the families of the deceased and the public that all relevant evidence would be secured, documented, preserved and examined as part of a thorough investigation.
The CAS also expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, National Emergency Management Agency, Ondo State Government, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Hi-Tech Construction Company, local authorities, community leaders and volunteers for supporting the recovery efforts.
He further commended Ebiowe and members of the investigation and recovery team for their dedication to the operation, while reiterating the NAF’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and accountability.
The Air Force said the operation would continue until the recovery phase is completed and all relevant evidence has been secured, with appropriate support also being provided to the affected families.
