Police Nab Abuja Hand-Chopping Cultists
The proactive security measures put in place by the FCT Police Command to beef up security and fight crime in the Federal Capital Territory has continued to yield positive result. This is evident in the successes we have recorded in the last couple of days and will be paraded today.
On behalf of the Command, I want to reassure FCT residents that the Command will continue to intensify its effort in providing them with quality service delivery. I also want to seize this medium to call on residents to continue to partner with the Police.
It is also pertinent to inform the public that ahead of the presidential inauguration ceremony scheduled for Wednesday 29th May, 2019, the Command is working in collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure a hitch-free exercise. Members of the public should also note that as part of security measures put in place for the event, there will be diversion of vehicular movement on some major routes leading to Eagle Square, venue of the event. The affected routes include: Aso Drive, FCDA by Finance Headquarters, Bayelsa House junction, National Assembly, Trancorp by Gana junction, Nitel junction by Ahmadu Bello way, Kur Mohammed by Benue House Plaza, NNPC Tower, Federal Sec Phase III under bridge, Behind Foreign Affairs under bridge, FCDA by POWA and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Expressway (Inter Section into 3 arm zone). While apologising for the inconveniences this may cause, the members of the public are advised to use alternative routes to their destinations.
Below are briefs on some notable achievements of the Command in the last couple of days:
1. ARREST OF ONE CHANCE ROBBERY
SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 23rd May, 2019 at about 1140hrs police operatives from Gwarimpa Division acting on tip off arrested one Chinedu Onyeama ‘m’ 36 years and Chibiuke Ojiribe ‘m’ 30 years members of a notorious one chance robbery syndicate who operate around Kubwa express and Gwarimpa axis. The suspects on the 23rd May, 2019 at about 1000hrs picked their female victim from Dutse Alhaji as a passenger en-route AYA, mid-way into the journey, the victim requested to alight from the cab following the suspicious activities of one of the suspects, Chibiuke Ojiribe, who brought out One US dollar ($1) note to pay for his supposed transport fare. After she successfully alighted, she shared her experience with a Good Samaritan who took her in his car and trailed the suspects to 3rd Avenue in Gwarimpa where some policemen on duty in the area were alerted. Upon receipt of the information, the police operatives immediately swung into action and arrested the suspects in their green colour Mazda 323 with registration number KWL 188 NU. Other exhibits recovered from the suspects are: palm fronts, pairs of old clothes, gun powder, leather carpet and a cartoon. Investigation is on-going.
2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS FOR CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT
On 22 April, 2019 at about 2100hrs acting on tip off, Police operatives arrested one Samuel David ‘m’ 19 years old, Kefas Audu ‘m’ 19 years old and Saad Saleh ‘m’ 20 years all of Jikwoyi phase1 for attacking one Victor Eminike with dangerous weapons. The suspects also chopped-off their victims hand. The suspects who are members of the Junior Vikings Confraternity (JVC) noted in their statements that the attack which happened on 22nd April, 2019 at about 2000hrs was to retaliate for a member of their gang who was attacked and inflicted with serious injury on his hand the same day. Effort is being intensified to arrest other members of the gang who are currently at large.
Similarly, on 22 April, 2019 at about 1000hrs police operatives from Mabushi Division following a tip-off arrested one Anthony Chukwuma ‘m’ 23 years old and Richard Bassey ‘m’ 23 years all of Jahi 1, members of Junior Vikings Confraternity (JVC) who have been terrorising residents of Jahi and its environs. Anthony Chukwuma has been on the police wanted list for his involvement in cultism and other criminal activities. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

3. ARREST OF ONE CHANCE SUSPECT
On 18th May, 2019 at about 0200hrs following a report, Police detectives have arrested one Shaba Patrick ‘m’ 41 years of Angwan Shehu Karimo, a notorious one chance robber who alongside other members of his gang (now at large) use criminal antics to extort money from their victims, mostly ladies. As part of the suspect’s modus operandi, he lures his female victims to brothels in slums where they are forced to undress in his presence and he inserts his finger into their private part purportedly to ascertain their virginity. The suspect and his syndicate operate around Life Camp axis. One of his victims who narrated her nasty experience to the police stated that the suspect and his cohorts extorted close to Seven Hundred Thousand (700,000) naira from her. However, the suspect said the money they collected from their victim was Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand (250,000) Naira. Effort has been intensified to arrest his cohorts who at large.
Similarly, On 23rd May, 2019 at about 1000hrs Police operatives on surveillance acting on intelligence arrested one Eugene Igbokwe ‘m’ 48 years old who has been on the Police watch list for fraudulent (419) activities. His cohort one Chidiebere Agwu ‘m’ 64yrs of Jabi Daki Biyu a notorious 419 kingpin was arrested by police operatives at Karimo Division when he came to secure the release of his colleague who was in Police custody. One Nisan Sunny with Reg. No. 909 FKJ sky blue in colour was recovered as exhibit. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
4. ARREST OF SUSPECT ARMED ROBBERS/
RECOVERY OF FIREARM
As part of inter-agency collaboration, on 22nd April, 2019 at about 1700hrs NDLEA operatives on duty between Kwali and Gwagwalada intercepted one Endurance Dada ‘m’ 28yrs with a bag containing one (1) English pump action, two (2) locally made guns, five (5) live cartridges, one (1) spanner and some charms. Following the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to FCT Police Command, Police detectives commenced discreet investigation that led to the arrest of one Lawrence Awah aka White ‘m’ 29 years old of Kwakwashi Niger State, who was to receive delivery of the firearms. In his statement the said Lawrence confessed to have previously received four rounds of live ammunitions from Endurance Dada. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
5. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT
On 22nd May, 2019 at about 2200hrs acting on tip off police operatives arrested one Godwin Edet Samson ‘m’ 29 years old who is notorious for robbing motorists around City gate by using stones to block the road. He was arrested at his hide-out at Ruga, Airport road. The suspect who operates mostly at night has been previously arrested by this Command for similar offence on 25/10/17 at about 2300hrs. He will soon be arraigned in court.
6. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA
PEDDLER/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 16th May, 2019 at about 0945hrs Police operative on patrol arrested one Daniel Obi ‘m’ 36yrs of Jikwoyi phase 1 for being in possession of Forty (40) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana popularly called Indian hemp. The suspect was arrested at Jikwoyi phase 1. He will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
7. ARREST OF SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF POLICE AND FRSC OBSERVATION POSTS AT ZUBA
Sequel to the ongoing investigation into the destruction of Police and FRSC observation posts by some hoodlums at Zuba on 23rd May, 2019, police detectives from this Command have arrested eight (8) suspects in connection with the crime. They suspects are:
i. Masaudu Abdulkarim ‘m’ 28 years old of Zuba
ii. Muktari Musa ‘m’ 30 years of no fixed address
iii. Abdulrahaman Lawali ‘m’ 23 years of Dakwa
iv. Sani Sulweiman ‘m’ 20 years of no fixed address
v. Nasiru Alhassan ‘m’ 20 years of no fixed address
vi. Abdulkadir Sanusi ‘m’ 20 years of no fixed address
vii. Shuaibu Iliyasu ‘m’ 25 years of Yan Tipper Madallah
viii. Abdulmajid Ibrahim ‘m’ 26 years of Suleja
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
8. FOILED ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST OF
SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF DANGEROUS
WEAPONS
On 22 May, 2019 at about 0300hrs police operatives with the support of some vigilante arrested four armed robbery suspects who attempted to rob residents of a Fulani settlement at Tugan Ladan. The suspects arrested are: Mohammed Saleh ‘m’ 20 years, Shuaibu Ahmad ‘m’ 20 years, Isiaka Ahmadu ‘m’ 20 years and Mohammed Bello ‘m’ 22 years. One cutlass was recovered from the suspects as exhibit. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
