Council, Correctional Service Boost Sports in Bauchi state
The Bauchi State Sports Council has expressed readiness to partner with the Nigerian Correctional Service with a view to developing sporting activities in the State.
This came as the Sports Council visited the Controller of Correctional Service Bauchi State Command yesterday in his office. Speaking during the visit, the Director of Sports of the Council, Mal.Haruna Bako noted that the visit was part of the Council’s resolve to reachout to stakeholders and sports loving people with a view to boosting sporting activities in the State.

Mal.Haruna Bako appealed to the Correctional Service in the State to provide an atmosphere where inmates can be engaged in sports within the Correctional centers and if possible, organize for them inter-facilities competitions. The Director of Sports assured of the Council’s technical support for the success of such competitions. The Sports Council later announced the appointment of the Controller as the Patron of Para Athletic Association of the State.
In his response, The Controller of Correctional Services Bauchi State Command, Suleiman T. Suleiman, commended the Council for the visit and for his appointment as the Patron of Para Athletic Association. He promised to work assiduously to achieve the desired objective.
The Controller disclosed that sports and other recreational activities are some of the things deployed by the Service to help keep inmates fit while in custody. He noted that he always encourages both staff and inmates to imbibe sports as an effective way of keeping themselves fit and agile.
He promised to partner with the Sports Council in other to assist the Service towards revamping the Service’s Reformers football Club which used to hold sway in the State as well as supporting staff with requisite skill for any sporting activity.
