NIS, Swiss NGOs Partner on Irregular Immigration
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) received a team of delegation from Swiss Government, Swiss NGOs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at Seme Control Post for facility assessment tour towrads enhancing migration management.
The delegation was received by representative of the Comptroller General, Deputy Comptroller General NE Graham who noted that the visit is critical to the country’s fight against irregular migration especially Smuggling of migrants (SOM) and Trafficking in Person ( TIP) which require collaborative efforts from both local and international partners.

Speaking during the visit, leader of the delegation Ms. Pfister Jolanda said the team comprises seasoned Police Officers from Swiss Federal and Cantonan Police with expertise on irregular migration. She further stated that the purpose of the visit is to assess NIS facilities with a view to exploring areas to support the Service on migration management within the framework of Nigeria/Swiss partnership on migration. She also pledged their support to the NIS particular on Migrant Information Data Analysis System at the nation’s port of entry.
Ms. Ivanka Spadina of the IOM described the Nigeria Immigration Service as a critical partner to her organization and maintained that the joint visit is a step forward on their collaboration with the NIS.
