Sports Ministry secures full  Scholarship for 20 Athletes

The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has reiterated its commitment to ensure that  young talented Athletes get quality education as they  participate in sports, since  sports and education are indivisible for all round growth.
The Hon. Minister Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare confirmed  this  during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding ( M.O.U) between the Ministry and Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) on the 100% scholarship given to 20 Nigerian students in five different sports. Mr Dare said  one needs education to be a good sportsman, and so the ministry’s focus is on the growth of our youths, to nurture them now that they are young, more so being  the future of the Nation, with a view to grassroot development and education.
“I can see our future sports men and women in these children and we must invest in them with our collaboration with NTIC.  We believe this investment must fly” the  Minister added.
To this end, the Minister hopes other  similar organizations will embrace this same plan and partner with the Ministry,  to get more of our talented youngsters on the right path.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Gabriel Aduda stated that the occasion is for the Ministry to pursue and fulfill its mandate on the development of young talents in promoting sports and education side by side, as one cannot be independent of the other.

“This collaboration humbles us to provide scholarship for the 14 students, we are honoured and very privileged, as the NTIC Sports Academy is to train and develop the talents by giving them quality education, sound training with the help of the ministry, he said.
There is ongoing plan to incorporate the remaining six students that make up the 20 students.
One of the students, Favour Ajah Ndubisi, who plays Taekwando 50kg,  and Nigerian Champion  gave the  vote of thanks on behalf of other students, promising that they will do their best to make the Ministry and the Country proud.
