The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare received the sad news of the sudden and painful demise of a Member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Hon. Chidi Ofor Okenwa who died on Tuesday, 5th May 2020 at the age of 50.
The Minister, on behalf of Government and Sport loving Nigerians expressed deepest condolences and sympathy with the family of the late football Administrator of rear qualities, adding that the nation will miss his immense leadership skills and contributions to Sports development in Nigeria.
Okenwa, who was also the Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association died as a result of a prolonged battle with leukaemia in a private hospital in Enugu State.
Dare stated that ‘’our prayers and feelings are with his immediate family, the Enugu Federation, Football family and all Sports lovers in the country over the painful loss of an incisive football Administrator.
