COVID – 19: Police Nab 155 Violators, Impound 63 Vehicles

Pursuant to the Presidential directive on emplacement of curfew between 20:00 to 06:00, the Sokoto State Joint Security Task Force led by CP Ibrahim S. Kaoje had between 05/5/2020 and today 14/5/2020 arrested a total of one hundred and fifty-five (155) suspects who violated the curfew on COVID-19 pandemic and sixty three (63) vehicles /motor cycles were also impounded.

Meanwhile, all cases were discreetly investigated as directed by the CP before being charged to court.

The CP reiterates that the Command is determined to enforce the curfew order to the latter and will therefore not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any individual or group of persons found violating the order.

Consequent upon the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje psc enjoins the people of Sokoto State to embrace compliance with the safety advisories issued by authorized agencies and remain obedient to the night curfew directive, as it is in the interest of the State to contain the spread of the virus.

In another development, in observance of the Presidential ban on non-essential inter-state travels and in continuation of assessment of state border closure points, the Sokoto State compliance monitoring committee led by Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Sani Kaoje psc had today assessed Bimasa closure point in Tureta LGA of Sokoto which links the State with Southern part of the country, in order to ascertain the level of effectiveness of the operation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje psc vows to bring recalcitrant travelers to book and charged operatives to remain professional and show utmost respect to human rights in the discharge of their duties.

Meanwhile, NIS Boss charged operatives to intensity efforts to block/bust illegal routes into the state.

Tambari, 119 Composite Group (NAF); CC Umar Musa Bala (NSCDC); CC Sabo S. Chafe (NCS) CC M. K. Kabo (FRSC); CN Yakubu Kibo (NDLEA) and team leads of the Police Tactical Squads.
