Arinola Lawal and the Revelations in Kwara Water Sector
She only served in office for just a year and a month, approximately. But she left indelible legacies that will be difficult for her successor to dream of surpassing. Mrs. Arinola Lawal, was appointed as Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources by Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, in December 2019.
Ariola, a daughter of former, but now late, Governor Mohammed Lawal is a workaholic in every true sense of the word. PRNigeria gathered that streams of ground-breaking achievements, under her charismatic watch, were recorded in the Kwara Water Resources Ministry. Between late 2019 and January this year, a lot was achieved, especially in terms of provision of potable water supply to several communities in the State.
She proved herself as a brilliant, exceptional, diligent and hardworking woman of substance in service delivery. Thanks to her purposeful stewardship, rehabilitation projects were embarked on and successfully completed at Lafiagi Water Works, Asa-Dam Water Works, Patigi Water Works, Oyun Waterworks Lot 2, Igbaja Water Works, Kaiama Water Works, Yashikira Waterworks, Oro-Ago Water Works and Gwanara Water Works. Ariola also awarded the contract for and ensured the complete reticulation of Golf Club.
PRNigeria also learnt that the rehabilitation of UP Kwara Water Tanks, across Ilorin Metropolis have afforded residents of Offa Garage; Umoru Audi; Unity Road; Ahmadu Bello Way; and Sobi via Iyawo Poultry, Ilorin, the opportunity to now be enjoying constant pipe bone water. This is just as the immediate-past Kwara Commissioner awarded contracts for the refurbishment of Agbabiaka Water Tanks Ilorin; Drilling of 10,000 Litres Motorized Boreholes at Jengbe Motor Spare Part Market, Oloje; and Drilling of motorized Boreholes in Isale-Koko, Amule/Baruba and Ita-Elepa/Offa-Garrage.
There was also the Inter-connection of Eastern Reservouir and Awolowo Road in Tanke; Diversion of Ductile iron pipes across Alagbado stream; Repair of Lafiagi Water Works and its environment; Creation of a By-pass from Asa-Dam Water Works to Oke-Ose tank; Repair of Works at Patigi Water Works and Extension; Relocation of “AC” Pipe along Baraje, Bababoko Area; Provision of Water Supply to Ajibesin Community, Ogidi Area; Payment for the Completion of Rore Waterworks in Irepodun LG by Tafol Nig. Ltd; Reactivation of Blocked four fitter-Bed, Asa-Dam; Drilling of a motorized Borehole at Shuta Asa LG; Provision of Industrial Boreholes in some Communities in Baruten LG; Repair of Share Waterworks; and Restoration of Pipe borne water to Abata-Asunkere, Ayegbami, Alagbado and Harmony Estate.
It is heart-warming to note that the rehabilitation of Igbaja Water Works supplementary bid has been completed, same with the Drilling of a motorized Borehole at Aliara, Ilorin West LG; Repair of 20 existing Boreholes and Drilling of a motorized Borehole in Asa LG; Repairs of 20 existing Boreholes; Drilling of 4 New Handpump and 5 New Motorized Boreholes in Moro LGA; Drilling of 4 Handpump and 5 motorized Boreholes in Ilorin East L.G.A; and the Drilling of 5 motorized Boreholes in Kaiama LG; together with the Rehabilitation of Concrete overhead tank across ilorin Metropolis, which include Ogidi; Kongbari; Basin; Sango; Adangba; and Surulere; among others.
Again, the visionary daughter of late Gov. Lawal, was the brain behind the repair of Borehole at Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (KWTESCOM) Premises; Provision of Generator-Set for the recently rehabilitated Concrete Overhead Tank within Ilorin Metropolis; Provision of Integrated Boreholes in Dumagi Waterworks; Provision of Industrial Motorized Borehole in Edidi Communities; Construction of 10 Hand fitted Boreholes in 5 LGAs; Drilling of Motorized Boreholes for Awe and Olowo Communities in Asa LGA; together with the Drilling of 16 Hand Pump Boreholes to Fulani/Herdsman across 16 LGAs in the State.

Other key accomplishments of the Water Resources Ministry, under the dynamic leadership of Ariola Lawal, include the Purchase of repair materials for Kwara State Water Corporation (KWWC); Extension of Pipe-Borne Water to Royal Site and Mountain View; Procurement of water tankers for Kwara State Water Corporation; Restoration of distribution line from Asamadiya to Awodi market; Creation of Distribution line to Abayawo community; Restoration of Distribution line to Ita-Elepa, Agaka; Provision of water to Sobi specialist hospital; Provision of water to Odota; together with the Restoration of water to Niger road and Ita-Amodu.
As the adage says, anything that has a beginning, surely has its termination. That is why, despite having an eventful and exciting time as the Commissioner of Water Resources in Kwara State, Mrs. Ariola Lawal’s term in office came to an end when Gov. Abdulrahman, recently dissolved his cabinet.
But hear the fulfilled and trailblazing amazon: “I see my time in office as a learning period, a priviledge to serve my people, and contribute to the growth and development of our beloved state – which I hope I have been able to achieve.
“A lot has been achieved during my time in office and I want to attribute all the achievements to the support I got from Kwarans (through sharing of information about the water condition in their environment and other aspects) because without them it can not be possible.”
Ariola Lawal remains one of the shining lights in the cabinet of Governor AA by her doggedness, boldness and goal-targeting transformation of the Ministry of Water Resources.

Betrayed Husband, Neighbours Beat Up Wife’s Lover on Matrimonial Bed as Police Remand Another Adulterous Woman in Katsina
With rampant cases of infidelity in Nigeria, a video of a husband and his neigbours ganging up on a young man who appeared to be his protege, for allegedly betraying him by sleeping with his wife has emerged.
In the almost 8mins clip obtained by PRNigeria, about five able bodied men were seen assisting the betrayed husband in beating the young man involved in the illicit act as he scampered for cover across corners of a mansion screaming “Wayyo Allah, zan mutu, ba hali na bane,” which literally translates to “oh my God am going to die please, it’s not my habit.”
In the clip, the victim who identified himself as Mar’uf narrated that it was a case of betrayal from the assailant he identified as Sani who usually sleeps with his wife during his business trips until he caught them red handed.
“Allah has helped me by exposing them,” he stated amidst gasping breath.
In a similar development, the Katsina State Police Command remanded a sorcerer and an adulterous wife after the husband caught them in the act on their matrimonial bed.
In an audio recording also obtained by PRNigeria, it was gathered that the unfaithful housewife went to the man for enchantments to help her business boom and help her possess her husband. Rather than helping her, the man used the opportunity to enchant the woman for himself to the extent that she invited him to her matrimonial home where he always slept in the absence of her husband.
The 24 years old sorcerer, named Labaras Mujitaba who is based in Sabon Unguwa Area of the State capital, admitted to sleeping with the wife but claimed it was a mutually agreed act.
“Yes I gave her enchantments for peaceful coexistence with her husband, another for her sick son and one for her and yes I slept with her but I wasn’t the one who charmed or seduced her,” he claimed.
The adulterous wife, Saratu Ibrahim admitted that Labaras was her sorcerer.
“My husband is wealthy but anytime I request for money from him to attend wedding or naming ceremonies, he always denied me so I decided to charm him,” Saratu said as she stated that she didn’t know how the tide turned and she started sleeping with him. She later admitted that she was the one who made advances to him.
When contacted, the spokesperson of police in Katsina, SP Gambo Isa said the incident of the adulterous sorcerer and the unfaithful house-wife happened few months ago.
