#ENDSARS ATTACKS: NCoS Gives N3m to 12 Staff

#ENDSARS ATTACKS: NCoS Gives N3m to 12 Staff

The CG of Nigerian Correctional Service Ja’afaru Ahmed fcimc magnanimously gave approval for the release of over three million naira (#3m) as medical assistance to 12 personnel of the Service in Edo State Command that sustained various degree of injuries during the #EndSARS Protest. This is meant to provide succour following the attack on them.

The 12 beneficiaries received their cheques through the Correctional Welfare Insurance Scheme (CWIS). A Service scheme put in place to meet the medical and welfare needs of staff in the event of occupational hazards.

While presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries today in Benin City, the Controller of Corrections Edo State Command Felix Lawrence appreciated the staff for their commitment to duty and for their resilience in overcoming the traumatic experience.

He further advised the officers and men to be more dedicated and diligent in the discharge of assigned duties.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, DSC Ombu Micheal who sustained life threatening injuries and received several stitches on his head and face expressed appreciation to the CGC for the kind gesture.

He said that they are indeed very grateful, motivated and pledged to be more dedicated to their duties.

It will be recalled that on the 19th of October, 2020 two facilities – Benin and Oko Custodial Centres were attacked by the #EndSARS protesters.
High point of the event was the presentation of cheques to individual beneficiaries.
