MAAUN Will Fix Affordable Tuitions for American University in Kano- Prof Gwarzo
The Founder of the Maryam Abacha American University Nigeria (MAAUN), Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo has disclosed that the institution will not charge exorbitant fees like most private universities in the country but fix accessible and affordable tuitions for different courses.
Gwarzo who is also the President of the Association of Private Universities in Africa said that besides the fact that MAAUN’s tuition fee would be less than a million Naira, the university would also Provide scholarship schemes on merit and for indigent students.
The erudite bilingual and French professor made the disclosure when he hosted Mallam Yushau A. Shuaib, the Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchant Promotions Limited (IMPR) and publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential on the MAAUN Campus in Kano.
Professor Gwarzo who lamented the backwardness of the society due to lack of quality education said he aims to eradicate illiteracy in the Northern part of Nigeria.
Prof Gwarzo said: “The vision behind our university project is to make sure that our children are educated and have a quality education that they can use for the development of our great country.
“Even though most of the private Universities in the country are expensive, we are set to fix affordable tuitions for average Nigerians and even roll out a series of scholarship schemes so that beneficiaries can use it to serve the community in return.

“The university will start with about 15 programmes under different faculties we call schools that cover Management, Computing, Law and allied Health Sciences like nursing, medical laboratory science and physiotherapy.”
Prof Gwarzo promised to establish more private Universities in the country as his organisation is working towards the establishment of Franco British International University in Kaduna and a Canadian University in Abuja.
In his remarks, Mallam Yushau Shuaib commended the 44-year-old Professor for his uncommon vision and sacrifice by investing in education in the North.
Shuaib said “It takes foresight and vision, apart from the risk and sacrifice involved for a businessman to invest in education when there is no guarantee on immediate returns on investment.
“While many businessmen and women would rather invest in real estate and other high yielding lucrative businesses, it is indeed commendable that a young Nigerian is investing heavily on education to address the deficit and challenges we are facing, especially in Northern Nigeria.”
The PRNigeria publisher expressed confidence that with the structure at MAAUN and the promising quality and affordable education, the management would ensure they recruit the best brain and highly qualified staff for the institution.
Prof Gwarzo later took his visitors on a facility tour on the infrastructures on the campus which comprises an administrative block, Faculties, laboratories, Senate Building, Worship Centres, Cafeteria and Recreational arena.
