JUST IN: Sultan confirms sighting of crescent moon, Ramadan begins Saturday
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon marking the beginning of the Ramadan fast in Nigeria.
A live broadcast on Friday by the Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero says the Sultan confirmed that the 2022 Ramadan fast will begin on Saturday, April, 2.

Solacebase had earlier reports the sighting of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia indicating that fasting commences tomorrow in the country.
He noted that according to reports he received, the new moon has been sighted in Sokoto, Borno, Yobe, Zamfara, and Plateau.
Ramadan fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and is made compulsory for all adult Muslims, except sick, travelling persons or those observing menstrual cycle, pregnant, or the elderly.
