While the Hon. Chief judge warmly welcomed the CP and his entourage, reassured him of his continuing commitment towards working with the Police to facilitate quick justice delivery. The Cp earlier assured His Lordship the CJ that the visit in this challenging time of insecurity is to remind both Judiciary and the police to increase talking to themselves on better ways of facing the common enemies of the nation.
Furthermore, the CP said that other objectives are to look for way of strengthening the existing cordial relationship and explore possibilities of strengthening police capacity in evidence based investigation, prosecution and human rights.
The Cp pointed out to the CJ that, the training gap on these critical areas could be bridged through regular interface with police personnel as well as bringing together in a collaborative policing workshop alongside personnel of Nigerian Correctional Service and other relevant security agencies by the Judiciary in conjunction with National Human Right Commission. The CP said, this could no doubt enhance the personnel capabilities in managing emerging crimes and nip in the bud issues that are causing delay in prosecution and justice delivery processes.
