· IGP Appoints NPF/NHRC Liaison Officer
The National Human Rights Commission commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba CFR, NPOM, NPM, mni, for his prompt responses to issues brought to the notice of the Nigeria Police Force by the Commission. This was made known today when the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Bem Angwe paid courtesy call on the IGP in his office. Prof. Bem Angwe further disclosed that his Commission has trained over thirty thousand (30,000) Police officers in the last two years. That the main purpose of the visit was to further strengthen the existing relationship with the Police and enable a platform for cooperation. He added that his Commission will concentrate on monitoring the conduct of security personnel that will be deployed for the 2015 general elections.
The IGP on his part, pledged to the Commission’s delegates that he will establish the positive performance Nigerians expect from Nigeria Police Force.
The IGP used the medium to announce the appointment of NPF/NHRC liaison officer with a view to strengthen the longtime relationship with the Commission and to further guarantee timely responses which will be replicated by Commissioners of Police at the State Commands.
The Commission was further assured of Nigeria Police Force full support and its commitment to credible, peaceful, free and fair 2015 general elections.
