Kwankwaso Expresses Satisfaction With Performance Of Kano State Students Abroad

Kano state governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso has said he is satisfied with the performance of the first batch of 501 youths sponsored by his administration for postgraduate degrees in 14 universities aboard, noting that many of them have not only completed their studies successfully but have secured jobs in their respective countries of studies.
 
Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso stated this during a civic reception for the students which took place alongside the graduation of 1,773 trained on various skills under the Kwankwasiyya empowerment programme, at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano. 
 
“The investment in your education is justified since many of you have not only excelled in your studies but have also secured good jobs”, the governor maintained, adding that they are expected to be diligent responsible wherever they find themselves.
 
Gov. Kwankwaso charged those of them who got jobs overseas to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and Kwankwasiyya Movement, adding that rest with excellent results are to man the 26 institutions established by the state government.
 
The governor revealed the state government has spent over N12 billion in sponsoring over 2,600 students to study abroad adding that the initiative is predicated on the fact that competitive economies across the world are knowledge intensive.
 
Gov. Kwankwaso was particularly pleased that out of 197 students sent to International University of East Africa, Uganda for degree programmes in ICT, 50 of them got first class degrees, hinting that one of them was employed as assistant lecturer at the university.
 
Turning to the trainees of the government’s empowerment programmes, which included 150 women who were trained at Kano Hospitality Institute on Interior decoration, cooking, embroidery, the governor charged them to make the best use of the opportunity to reposition their families.
 
On the other trainees such as 88 youth trained on Moringa Processing, 500 women on home based trades, 200 trained on fire fighting in Markets and 137 youths trained in collaboration with Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation, the governor charged the to make the best use of the opportunity to improve their lot.  
 
The governor said that millions of Naira was spent on such programmes with a view to making indigenes of Kano self reliant and more active participants in the nation building.
 
In his remarks, Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, commended that Kwankwaso administration for its human development agenda, expressing optimism that in the near future, the state would have adequate skilled manpower that is capable of propelling accelerated development.
 
The Emir noted that the government’s empowerment programmes will not only mitigate poverty and create wealth but state economically viable.
