NHIA Ranks Defence Health Maintenance Ltd High on Service Delivery
The Nigerian Military on Monday said the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, has ranked Defence Health Maintenance Limited, DHML, as the best performing Health Maintenance Organisation in Nigeria, going by its efficient service delivery across board.
Speaking at the 10th Defence Health Maintenance Limited Year 2022 Stakeholders’ Meeting with military health care providers in Abuja, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Health Maintenance Limited, Rear Admiral A.B Afolanyan (rtd) said the goal of DHML is to improve healthcare delivery through health insurance cover to the serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and their families.
Afolayan also announced the deployment of an Integrated Health Management Software, IMHS.

According to him, advantages of IHMS are numerous, which include more accurate and faster processing of claims, better enrollee database management and research.
He emphasized that registration of enrollees for this scheme is compulsory for all serving and retired personnel and their families.
“Prior to the deployment of the DHML IHMS, serving military personnel were exempted from registering while it was made compulsory for the military retirees. However, this is Against the principle HMO operations.
“It was allowed then as an interim arrangement, considering the peculiarities of the military.
“Now after 16 years of operating without properly enrolled serving personnel and with the deployment of the DHML IHMS, it is now imperative for all serving military personnel and their eligible family members to be properly captured as DHML health insurance enrollees,” he said.
