The CNS said the partnership will establish Naval and Commercial Logistic bases in Burutu community, and enhance security operations, as well as increase maritime activities for both the oil and non-oil industries.

Gambo noted that the MoU is in line with the Presidential Executive Order 5 which allows government institutions to partner or engage reputable indigenous professional companies in Joint Venture relationships in realization of corporate objectives.

“This partnership with Akewa Global Services Limited stands to yield great benefits in Local Content Development in the areas of shipbuilding technology as well as other aspects of science and engineering,” he said.

In his remark, the Chairman of Akewa Global Service, Mr. Kenneth Donye said the partnership will revive the ageing dockyard with modern maritime facilities, movement of bulk cargo for non-oil exports, especially for solid mineral and agricultural commodities.

“We’re delighted with the presence of Naval security operation in the area which will destigmatize the community as a security prone area to attract both local and foreign investors.” he stated.
