HoS Office, Foundation Host ‘Leadership Programme’ for Perm Secs
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, in partnership with the AIG-Imoukhuede Foundation has organised a two-day Senior Leaders’ Programme for all Federal Permanent Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries-Designate, starting today, Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Abuja. The training Programme is being facilitated by Resource Persons from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, London, the United Kingdom.
It is expected to provide the much needed impetus to propel, as well as reposition the Federal Civil Service as an initiator and a major driver of policies, projects and programmes of the Federal Government.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR, being a woman of vision, is relentlessly providing the requisite leadership skills for the Service through faithful partnerships and collaborations with the World Bank, the United Kingdom for International Development (UK-DFID), under its Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) Programme and the European Union via its Support for Federal Government Reforms Programme, amongst others.

It is expected that at the end of the 2-day Training Sessions, transformative coaching that combine deep expertise with analytical thinking and practical skills will be delivered to the Chief Administrative and Accounting Heads of the various MDAs with a view to addressing real-life policy challenges toward ensuring service delivery and good governance for the teaming Nigerian population.
The Senior Leaders’ Programme dovetailed into four Plenary Sessions namely; Civil Service Reforms and Democracy, Civil Service Effectiveness, Integrity in Recruitment and Playbook for the Year Ahead. The team of Facilitators from the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University led by Professor Christopher Stone, grouped the Participants into smaller Syndicate Sessions; Relations between the Public Service at the Federal and State Levels, Nigeria and its International Partnerships and Building Culture of Integrity.
At the end of today’s Session, Participants, especially the Permanent Secretaries Designate, expressed their appreciation for the unique opportunity offered, which will greatly enhance their performance in driving government’s policies, programmes, activities, as well as projects.
