INEC Writes Police Boss for Prosecution of Adamawa REC, Collation to Resume
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will prosecute its embattled Resident Electoral Commission, REC, for Adamawa State, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari.
PRNigeria reports that Ari has been in the eye of the storm since Sunday, after he controversially declared Sen. Aisha Dahiru Binani, winner of the 2023 Adamawa governorship election, after last weekend’s re-run poll, while collation was ongoing.
Following his ‘illegal’ declaration, the INEC leadership quickly summoned him to their Commission’s Head Office in Abuja.

The country’s apex electoral body also suspended the collation of results of the supplementary election in Adamawa.
But a dependable source at INEC, on Tuesday, told PRNigeria that arising from the meeting of the Commission’s top officials and National Commissioners today, INEC has decided to write the Inspector-General of Police, Usman-Alkali Baba, for the immediate investigation and prosecution of Barr. Yunusa Ari.
“Our Commission will also request the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of the REC for further action,” he said.
According to the source, the INEC will any moment from now resume the collation of results for the re-run Adamawa guber election.
