Following discreet, sustained and painstaking intelligence, the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Kaduna State Command SIB operatives, smashed a deadly killer gang and arrested 4 suspects in connection with the kidnapping and subsequent murder of an army officer, Col. Samaila Yunusa, in Kaduna on 27th March, 2016. Sequel to the kidnapping and killing of the officer, the IGP IRT deployed the Technical and Human Intelligence assets of the Force which led to the arrest of a Prison Warder named Abdullahi Adamu, who is a close associate of one of the prime suspects who was using the Tecno mobile phone stolen from the slain Colonel. Further investigation led to the arrest of two (2) of the prime suspects, namely: Ibrahim Kabiru ‘m’, 23, (aka uztaz) and Ebele Precious ‘m’, 41 (aka pastor), while the gang leader Emeka Okeke Cyprain ‘m’, 44, and one other member of the syndicate, Chijioke Ugwuanyi, ‘m’, 42 (aka CJ) were later arrested. Items recovered by the Police from this notorious gang, which specialised in car snatching and truck hijacking in the State and selling same to unsuspecting members of the public, include one AK 47 rifle, two magnum pistols, one Nissan Pathfinder Jeep and documents of six (6) houses located in Anambra State of which Emeka Okeke Cyprian confessed were proceeds of his previous criminal activities. While commending the IGP IRT and operatives of the Kaduna State SIB detectives for their commitment, diligence and professionalism which led to the breakthrough and subsequent recovery of the weapons and a stolen Jeep, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, enjoined the citizens to continue to support the Police with relevant information.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said that his administration is investing heavily in agriculture in order to increase the food security status of the state and to increase the sectors’ contribution to internally generated revenue. The governor made the assertion during the celebration of the state Farmers Day and inauguration of 381 Agricultural extension workers and distribution of motorcycles to them, at Kadawa in Garun Mallam local government area. “Oil money has dropped so the best option is for us to focus on agriculture so as to shore up our revenue, to enable us address the development deeds of our people”, he stressed. “We, as a leading wheat production state, have invested substantially in production of the commodity. For instance, the government provide N100 million interest-free loan to wheat farmers, drilled 1,000 tube wells, distributed 5, 000 hand pumps and procured two combined harvesters, clearing, sorting and grading machine, among others, to boost production”, the governor maintained.

Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has assured the people of the state of qualitative, functional and accessible medical services in the state. He gave the assurance yesterday when he flagged off the 500 Free Eye Surgical Operation jointly organised by the State government and a Saudi Arabia based non-governmental oranisation at IBB Specialized Hospital, Minna. The governor also assured rural dwellers of his administration's commitment to ensuring that adequate healthcare facilities are provided to rural areas where more indigent patients with various kinds of ailments abound. Flagging off the free eye treatment, Gov. Sani Bello said the programme would concentrate on removing of cataract, rectifying of eye lenses as well as giving of glasses where necessary in order to reduce blindness in the state. Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello on Monday said the state would no longer sponsor pilgrims to Holy lands of Jerusalem and Mecca. Collaboration between Nigeria and Germany is under way for the construction of off-grid solar power plants for the University of Ibadan and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. In a swift reaction to the recent killing in nine Agatu Local Government Areas of Benue State, allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM,visited the area where he assessed the extent of damage caused during the clash and the impact on the Agatu people of the State. Based on his assessment and coupled with the logistical requirement the IGP Immediately deployed 2 Units of Police Mobile Force to the area, to reinforce the Unit on ground, while additional Police operational vehicles were also sent to the Commissioner of Police in the State Command to aid operational support.
Governor Ganduje noted that his administration has been working with the Police, the Army and vigilantes to address security problems such as cattle rustling and drug trafficking, pointing out that success is being recorded because of the support of community members. He promised to collaborate with the state PCRC to stimulate more community interest in security matters so as to make the state safe for businesses and other social endeavors to thrive.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has commended the DFID for its support towards actualizing the state Investment Promotion Agency, which aims to facilitate maximum exploitation of investment opportunities in the state. He equally noted with satisfaction that the internal agency is working with his administration towards revolutionizing tax management, leading to the restructuring of the state Internal Revenue Service, for enhanced service delivery.

The IGP, while disclosing that three Commissioners of Police have been deployed to supervise security arrangements within the three Senatorial Districts – Rivers East, Rivers West and Rivers South East, respectively, stated that 6000 conventional Policemen and 14 Units of Police Mobile Force personnel (MOPOL), would be deployed to compliment the personnel of Rivers State Command during the election.
In his remarks, the Rivers State Governor stated that he was at the Army Headquarters to discuss security issues in the state that bordered on growing cult related clashes and killings by some individuals in the State which has security implications, while preparations for the election was in progress. He expressed concern over the atmosphere of security in the state.
On his part, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje expressed the hope that “the project would bail Kano State out of its prevailing economic depression and uplift the state to another level of economic prosperity and development”.
