The Senate yesterday at plenary defers debate on the report of the Conference Committee on the 2015-2017 Medium Term Expenditure framework MTEF and fiscal Strategy Paper FSP. The report was deferred due to the absence of the Conference Committee chairman, Senator Ahmed M. Makarfi from Kaduna North who was expected to present the report.
The Senate also considers the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the Administration of Criminal Justice bill. The bill which was debated at the Committee of the Whole chaired by the Senate President, Senator David Mark was presented by Senator Umaru Dahiru.
Other reports laid on the table yesterday at plenary include the report of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions in respect of complaints against Newspaper Publications on allegation of three billion Naira collected by members of joint Committee on Establishment and Public Service, States and Local Governments investigating Pension Administration in Nigeria by Senator Kabiru Gaya presented by Senator Ayo Akinyelure.
The others are report of the joint Committee on Local and Foreign Debts and Finance increase from USD 100 Million to USD 300 Million Diaspora bond presented by Senator Ehigie Uzamere and the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the violence against persons ( Prohibition ) bill 2015 presented by Senator Umaru Dahiru.
