The Federal Govt has reiterated that the military is loyal to all successive administration to ensure that the democratic institution is well sustained and nurtured and not to individuals. These were the remarks of the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Col. Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu when he made his maiden visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
The Minister also highly commended the Armed Forces for the success recorded so far in the current security challenge and encourage them to maintain the tempo especially in the face of merger funds available for use.He said he was happy to be in a familiar terrain being a retired army officer.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh in a warm welcome said they were really elated when it was heard that one of theirs, was coming in as the Minister of state, and that though for a short time,being a former Minister after now still will be recognized any time any where and any day, and he should therefore continue to work for and with the Nigerian Army to ensure that they succeed in their assignment of securing the territorial integrity of the nation.
The Minister also commended the Chief of Defence Staff for his resourcefulness and drive in making the service better than he met it.
Some Directors of the Ministry of Defence accompanied the Minister who also met with some of his colleagues who trained with him and also gave him the right footing during their cadet years.
