The Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris has called on Nigerians of all works of life, irrespective of gender, tribe or religion to always strive to do things rightly, saying that is the best way to collaborate with the President Muhammed Buhari’s administration to actualize the change promised Nigerians.
Addressing members of the Association of Women Professional Financial Managers of Nigeria recently at the Treasury House, Abuja, Alhaji Idris enjoined all professionals to be faithful to the ethics of their jobs, emphasizing that “We all know what we can do as groups and individuals to contribute to the actualization of the change we expect in Nigeria. We don’t need to be told what is right and what is wrong, we all know what is right and wrong and we should not wait for people to come and tell us to do them”
He reminded the women that by virtue of their profession as financial managers in various aspects of the Nation’s financial sector, they should see themselves as agents of change, urging them to identify with the spirit and body language of President Buhari, by blocking financial leakages, stopping corruption and all other vices which are inimical to the economic development of the Country.
The Accountant General explained that this position has become very necessary not only because it is the right and professional thing to do, but also because of dwindling resources accruing to the government occasioned by the fall in oil prices and which could affect the Government ability to deliver on social services if not prudently managed.  “Therefore as people managing the finances in your various offices, I urge you to be accountable, transparent and employ more cost effective ways of managing government resources” Alhaji Ahmed Idris reiterated.

He promised that the Treasury under his leadership will make the issues of staff welfare and particularly that of women a priority. To that effect, the OAGF, he revealed  intends to construct a Creech in the complex that will enable nursing mothers take care of their babies and become more productive in carrying out their duties; provide a more conducive working environment as well as develop the capacity of the staff to deliver on their mandate.
Earlier the leader of the delegation and president of the Association, Mrs. Enape Victoria Ayishetu informed Alhaji Idris that the Association has come to congratulate him on his appointment as the Accountant General of the Federation.
Mrs. Enape said that the Association is made of Women professionals from the various aspects of the financial sector, who come together to promote maximum productivity of women  to the Economy ,as well as encourage projects that will lead to the development of the girl child in the Nigeria.
