The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Anebi Joseph Garba, on Thursday told visiting reconstituted Federal Character Commission Committee chairperson on Defence and Foreign Affairs Mrs. Jokotade Odebunmi, that the Federal Fire Service (FFS) in its recruitment and other exercises, had always maintained the principle as contained in the Federal Character Commission architecture.
He recalled the level of depletion of its workforce through retirement, right seizing and even death which had affected the strength of drivers in particular and had the vision of strengthening drivers capacity, if given the go ahead because of their importance in carrying out activities in the service and enhancement of service delivery.
Earlier, Mrs Odebunmi had informed the Controller General that the purpose of their visit was to interface with heads of organisations under the purview of the reconstituted Committee and to reiterates compliance to Federal Character principle. She gave the Federal Fire Service a pass mark and a pat on the back for having an up to date staff Nominal roll in place and did encourage the Controller General and the management team to keep it up and to replicate same on the implementation of the Federal Character principle in recruitment, promotion and other exercises.
