solomon-dalungThe Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Barr Solomon Dalung has called for the return of all schools taken over by the Federal and State governments to their former proprietors in order to bring back inculcation of moral, spiritual and ethical discipline which such missionary and private schools were noted for in the past.
Dalung made the call while receiving a seven-man delegation of .Executive Members of the Church of Christ in Nigeria – COCIN, Recubelem Jos, led by the Leading Minister of the Church -Rev. Yucaps Gwotts who came to pay him a courtesy visit on Christmas Day.
According to the Minister, the nation profited from the all round sound training which such schools provided for our founding fathers; noting that the taking-over of schools by Governments has not yielded the desired result.
He also appealed to the church to resuscitate youth programmes such as the Boys Brigade, Girls Guide, Red Cross and help provide sporting facilities to complement Government’s efforts as deliberate character-mounding and empowerment strategies for our youth in order to produce patriotic and selfless leaders of tomorrow.
Towing the line of the President, he apologized to the public for the untold hardship being experienced by the current fuel scarcity, which he explained to be mainly caused by sabotage and greed of some stakeholders; saying a situation whereby large numbers of tankers loaded with the products left Lagos but never surfaced in Abuja destination seven days after leaves much to be desired, and that such practice is rampart but promised that the Federal Government is working round the clock to bring an end to the unacceptable situation and ensure that petroleum products are readily available at the right price.
Dalung also reported that as this year is running to an end,  the Boko Haram insurgents’ capacity to hold any territory in Nigeria has been totally decimated; jsaying the major challenge now is how to convince the internally displaced people to return to their settlements.
Earlier, the leader of delegation has said the Church leaders came to felicitate with Barr Dalung bon his appointment as Minister and to thank President Buhari for appointing their son known for his passionate devotion to youth struggle and religious tolerance as Minister of Youth and Sports.
He also thanked the Minister for the borehole he personally provided for the community and urged him to use his good office and influence to fix the bad road serving the community and assist in providing a playing ground for the youth.
The delegation could not hide their joy when the Minister announced that another central location has been found where an additional borehole will be  provided to further address the water challenge of the community. The visit was rounded up with prayers for the Minister, Plateau State, President Buhari, people of theNorth-East and Nigeria in general.
