ahmed-idrisThe Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris has declared that to him, the position of the Accountant-General of the Federation bestowed on him is not just a position, but a position of trust from God and Mr. President and that he owes it as a duty to deliver the trust intact, since he sees it as a responsibility to the President and all Nigerians adding that God will make it possible ONLY if he is sincere.
He said this at a gathering where he was honored by his former classmates in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (MIAD 6) at the Kapital Club & Apartments, Asokoro, Abuja.
Mr Idris appreciated his former colleagues for the honor saying, “The virtue of friendship is being each other’s keepers”. He stated how proud of his former classmates and Lecturers he is and encouraged that the gathering should always re-unite regularly promising to provide a suitable meeting place.
Speaking on the national issues, the AGF stated that Nigeria is working, though in stages and phases just that the citizens should be patient with the government.
The Chairman of the occasion Major Gen. Okoh in his welcome address stated how worthy on feels to be part of the MIAD 6 and to be alive to witness such an occasion as some of the members are no more. He reminiscenced on the discipline acquired from the school and stated that it was what has made them this successful.
Dr. Umar Kaoje, a senior lecturer in the Political Science Department of A.B.U presented a “talk” on the topic; In the Era of Change – The way forward. He stated that, Ahmed Idris is an agent of Change and every good fruit brings out good fruit so also, by their fruit you shall know them. He reiterated that one must be a servant to be a leader like President Buhari adding that Men of Value and Success are always remembered but people that look for “short-cuts” are easily and totally forgotten.
Dr. Kaoje declared MIAD 6 as a class of Leaders enumerating that Leaders make things happen and that there has been no such class before or after. He therefore declared that it is a celebration of Discipline and unbroken focus.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the group Air Cmdr. Darlington Abdullahi thanked everyone that attended the program and called on the members to always share news amongst one another so that more members would be aware and attend functions. With the support of the Executive Members, he presented a Plaque to the AGF to show appreciation for the excellence he has achieved.
