NPS Provides Additional Vehicles to Bauchi Prisons
Amidst jubilations and commendations, the Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command, CP Suleiman T.Suleiman had today formally presented two mini Green Maria vehicles to Ningi and Tafawa Balewa Prisons respectively.
While presenting the Tata-brand new vehicles to the respective officers in charge of Ningi and Tafawa Balewa Prisons, CP Suleiman T. Suleiman disclosed that the supply of the Operational vehicles is part of the transformation drive of the Controller General of Prisons, Alh.Ja’afaru Ahmed to improve the performance of the Service in Bauchi State and ensure effective service delivery.
The Controller of Prisons urged the benefitting Prisons to make judicious use of the vehicles in order to achieve the purpose they were meant for, which is conveying inmates to and from courts in their domains.
It will be recalled that Bauchi State Command had in 2017 received the supply of three (3) Operational vehicles from the Prisons National Headquarters including a Green Maria for Bauchi Prison.

In continuation of the Controller General of prisons Jafaru Ahmed efforts to reduce the challenges hitherto noticed as regards to court duties and sewage excavations in our prisons.
He has distributed another set of operational vehicles to the various commands.
Kaduna state command witnessed another immense boost in the area of logistics with the supply of Three escort duty vans and a “sewage sucker”Truck to aid the immediate evacuation of excrete from our suck away.
The Kaduna state Controller of prisons YG Abubakar wasted no time in handing over the vans and truck to the concern officers incharge of the various prisons involved which are :Kaduna Convict prison, Birningwari prison, Makarfi prison and Gwantu Satellite Prison. He called upon the officers incharge to maintain the vehicle,service it when it’s due and he will not take it lightly with officers that misuse the vehicles.
He also expressed his gratitudes to the CGP for his timely, and leadership style which is geared towards changing the narratives of the service for good,as been noticed in the Renovation of the State Headquarter office, Kujama farm centre, building of barracks in Kujama, building of new Markafi prison, distribution of medical supplies to inmates, service uniforms to staff and purchase of office furniture in the command.

Ogun Prison Receives Escort Van
It was a twin jubilation today 15th February, 2018 as the Controller of Prisons Ogun State Command, Abolade Benson took delivery of an escort van dispatched from the National Headquarters.
The inmates were happy as the van will ease their movement to court thereby hasten the hearing of their cases. Staff were ecstatic as the van will ease their erstwhile court duties stress.
The Controller of Prisons, Abolade Benson appreciated the CGPS, Ja’afaru Ahmed for the provision.
It is note worthy that command benefited from the last distribution of vehicles by the CGPS to various command.

Delta State Command Receives two GreenMaria
Just when the Officers and Men of the Nigerian Prisons Service Delta State Command are trying to get over the euphoria on the receipt of the Uniform materials and accoutrements for the subordinate staff and second batch of Drugs and other medical relief materials, The Controller General of Nigerian Prisons Service *Jafaru Ahmed* scores another feat with procurement and allocation of two court escort duty trucks (GreenMaria) to Kwale and Warri Prisons respectively.
Before now, there have been several reported cases of serious logistics problems emanating from Kwale Prison, while Warri Prison recorded countlessly the inability of the limited number of vehicles attached to the prison to service all courts within its jurisdiction.
The Controller of Prisons Delta State Command, Sam Iyakoregha in his speech appreciated the Controller General and advised the officers Incharge of the aforementioned Prisons to use the vehicles for the purpose they were provided for. He also added that the vehicles should be adequately maintained

Kebbi Controller of Prison Didn’t Issue Statement on Boko Haram
The attention of Nigerian Prisons Service Kebbi State Command, has been drawn to some online media publications, quoting the Controller of Prisons, CP Sani Adamu Potiskum as saying that he fought 360 Boko-Haram members while they intend to ambush his command.
The said statement attributed was fabricated and mischievously circulated, probably to achieve ulterior motives.
The Controller of Prison has no reason whatsoever to make that assertion and for emphasis he did not make nor issue the statement on Boko Haram.
The public is hereby urged to ignore the statement in its entirety.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Command of the Nigerian Prison Service, has decorated 196 newly promoted officers of the Command with their new ranks in the state capital.
The elevated officers were part of those promoted recently by the Controller-General of Prison, CGPS JA’AFARU AHMAD in his effort to break the yoke of staff stagnation in the service and to inculcate discipline and motivation for officers.
Addresing the affected staff shortly after their decoration ceremony, CP Potiskum expressed gratitude to the CGPS for demonstrating leadership qualities in facilitating the promotions exercise as well as improving the welfare and infrastructures in the prison servicrdeeming it fit to promote staff of the service and urged the newly decorated staff to reciprocate the gesture with discipline, hardworking, vigilance and dedication to duty.

Out-going Controller of Kaduna NPS Training School Decorates 26 Promoted Officers
It was a double celebration in PTS Kaduna as the decoration ceremony of the 26 newly promoted Officers (1DCP, 1SOP, 3PIP, 8SIP, 7IP, 1CPA, 3AIP and 1PA) coincided with the handing over of baton of leadership by the outgoing Commandant CP Ani Patrick Chikezie ESQ (who is proceeding on retirement), to the incoming Commandant CP Husseini Ibrahim Mohammed.
During the ceremony, the outgoing Commandant while delivering the Controller General of Prisons Ahmed Ja’afaru’s congratulatory message, charged all the promoted Staff to be more alive to their duties and responsibilities as promotion is a motivational force because to whom much is given, much more is expected. He urged all Staff to be more diligent, disciplined and innovative in order to allign with the Ahmed Ja’afaru led administration which is held in high esteem due to the numerous goodwill the Service is enjoying now as Staff and inmates alike have never had it so good in the history of the service as problems like promotion recession, logistics recession, drug nightmare, ill motivated staff and archaic structures are all in the past now.
In continuation, he sympathized with all Staff that lost out of the promotion and admonished them not to be demoralized and get truant because promotion is a privilege and not a right, that they should take it in good fate and wait for the appointed time.
At the end of his address, he admonished all Staff to be of good conduct and give the new Commandant all the needed support and cooperation as was the case during his administration.
The incoming CP who is a seasoned corrrections officer, well read and well traveled, having worked in numerous Prisons formations on different capacity was the immediate past Controller of Nassarawa State Command.
In his reaction, he thanked the outgoing Commandant and congratulated the celebrants while stating his readiness to work with all and Sundry for the development of the School and by extension the Service. He advised all Staff to be dutiful and law abiding as he will be friendly with all but a friend of none.
In appreciation on behalf of all the celebrants DCP Cecilia Avong the Incharge Welfare Unit by thanking both Commandants and Stated that the Staff will be more dedicated and diligent to service as they count themselves the lucky few out of numerous others who did not scale through the highly competitive promotion exercise.
Finally, the event was brought to an end as both Commandant’s proceeded to the Office for the proper handing over and taking over notes.
NPS Appoints Olumide as Controller of Prisons Service in Rivers
Following the recent promotions and reshuffles in the Nigeria Prisons Service nation wide, Rivers State Command receives a New Controller of Prisons, Mr Tinuoye Olumide Timothy, who took over from Assistant Controller General of Prisons, Mr Amaliri Ifeanyi, who has been moved to zone D Minna as the Zonal Coordinator.
In his speech, Controller of Prisons, OT Tinuoye appreciated the ACG and requested for cooperation of all staff to move Rivers State Command to enviable heights.
