The Theme of the Conference is “Saving the Lake Chad to Revitalize the Basin’s Ecosystem for Sustainable Livelihood, Security and Development.”

The main objective of the International Conference is to create global awareness on the socio-economic challenges arising from the shrinkage of the Lake Chad such as insecurity and threat to livelihoods with a view to developing a comprehensive programme of action to save the Lake from extinction.

Heads of States from member countries of the Lake Chad region, global partners and experts from across the world are expected at the 3-day Conference.

The Conference is expected to garner political and financial support, for the restoration option identified for the Lake Chad.
