OIC Condemns Abduction of Dapchi Girls
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen has strongly condemned the abduction of over one hundred and ten school girls from the Government Girls Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State of Nigeria.
Dr Othaimeen conveyed his profound sympathy and that of the entire OIC Member States to the families of the victims, the government and people of Nigeria over this distressing incident perpetrated by a faction of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The Secretary General, while restating the principled position of the OIC against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, called for enhanced international cooperation and support to Nigeria and countries in the Lake Chad Basin to eradicate the threat that Boko Haram continues to pose to the peace, socio-economic development and educational progress of the region.
