Nigerian Prisons Celebrate Woman’s Day
NGO CELEBRATES WITH FEMALE INMATES
As the world celebrates women today, as a call to action to shed light on women issues. A Non Governmental Organisation under the aegis of National Council of Women Societies in Nigeria (NCWSN), Kebbi State Chapter, Celebrated world women’s day with female Inmates of Old Prison Birnin Kebbi.
Hajiya Atuna Danga, Kebbi State Council President, said  the council under the patronship of Her Excellency  Hajiya Zainab Bagudu, cares for women, children and peoples with disabilities. “We enlightened women on their Rights, sensitised them on dangers of Drugs Abuse and trained them to be Self Reliant” .
Amongst other items donated to Inmates include fruit juice, food and toiletries. Officer in charge of the facility CSP.Idris Garba, thanked the council for the kind gesture.
In his remarks the Controller of Prisons Kebbi State Command CP. Sani Adamu Potiskum, commended their compassion and said it’s a great effort worthy of emulation.

GOVERNOR’S WIFE VISITS FEMALE PRISONERS WITH GIFTS
The wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Barr.Aisha M.A Abubakar today visited female prisoners in Bauchi Prison as part of activities to mark this year’s world women day celebrations in Bauchi.
The Governor’s wife who has been a regular visitor to Prisons in the state said she  was in the Prison purposely to celebrate women’s day with the female prisoners in order to make them happy and give them sense of belonging.
 Barrister Aisha noted that whenever she visits the Prison and saw female inmates she becomes very emotional.
The Governor’s wife took time to interact with the prisoners where she listened to their complaints and progress of their cases in courts. She paid the sum of 140,000 thousand Naira as outstanding debt against a particular prisoners who was being owed by her creditors. She also offered  to look into the cases of some other two inmates with a view to fast tracking their release from Prison.
In his welcome address the Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command CP Suleiman T.Suleiman commended the Governor’s wife for her interest and relentless efforts towards the Prisons. He urged other Governors wives and philanthropists to emulate her in rendering similar gestures.
The Governor’s wife distributed gift items such as bags of sugar, toiletries,sanitary pads, cartons of indomie noodles, cartons of soap and detergents and copies of the Holy Qur’an for the well-being of the inmates.
