WAEC Plans Exam Centres in Prisons

WAEC Plans Exam Centres in Prisons
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is to establish exams centre in the Nigerian prisons service, Niger state command.
This was disclosed by the branch  controller of the council in Niger state Mr Sofela Adebisi during a courtesy visit to the controller of prisons Niger state command CP Baba Gana in his office.
Mr Adebisi told the CP that he was in his office to seek area of collaboration with the service in complimenting the efforts of the Nigerian prisons service to Reform, Rehabilitate and Re integrate those who falls foul of the  law.
Responding, CP Baba Gana thanked the branch controller for the visit and assured him of the service readiness to make the establishment of the exams centre in the state a reality.
CP Baba Gana added that the Nigerian prisons service under the able leadership of the CGPS Ja’afaru Ahmed, is witnessing a lot of laudable changes especially in the training of inmates in educational and vocational skills acquisition to make them useful members of the society after discharge.
The CP further enumerated other area of achievement in the state prison command that include establishment of National Open University of Nigeria study centre in the prison formations across the state as according to him,imprisonment is not coercion but a correctional measure to Reform and mould character of inmates to discover their potentials.
The visit took place on the 20th march,2018(Tuesday)
