400 Women Benefit from Aisha Buhari’s Cash Transfer Initiative

Another 200 women benefitted from the Aisha Buhari Foundation’s Community-Based Cash Transfer Intervention in Katsina. This was a continuation to a similar event in Daura in which 200 women were assisted with cash to grow their business last Wednesday.

The event held at the Katsina Multipurpose Hall on Friday, 24th August, 2018.

The Katsina event witnessed a large turnout of women who are into various small businesses like agricultural products processing and marketing, catering (including akara and masa sellers), cosmetics, tailoring and beading.

Coordinator of Aisha Buhari Foundation, Dr. Kamal Muhammad who represented Wife of the President at the event said the cash transfer initiative is in line with the vision of Future Assured Programme on improving the health and wellbeing of women and children. The transfer, he said, will lead to an improvement in household income, which will in-turn improve feeding and nutritional status, school attendance and quality of education as well as improved health status of the family, among other benefits. These benefits, he said will contribute to the attainment of related Sustainable Development Goals.

He charged the beneficiaries to expand their businesses with this cash support.

Commissioner for Women Affairs in the State, Mrs. Badiyya Hassan Mashi thanked the wife of the President for constantly supporting women, saying that the support will assist entrepreneurial women to expand the capital base of their micro businesses and become more self-sustaining. She urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously.
