Police Commence Arrest of Katsina Kidnappers

Police Commence Arrest of Katsina Kidnappers

On assumption of duty two months ago, I assured the good people of Katsina state of their safety, peace and security. I also warned criminal elements to desist from criminality or leave the state because the Command under my watch will have zero tolerance for criminality. I want to assure you that Katsina state has taken steps towards sustainable peace and progress. These we have achieved through intelligence led policing, increased visibility policing, community-based policing approach, synergy with sister security agencies and the state government. With the help of the Almighty God and the relentless effort of my officers and men, I am happy to present the following successes recorded by Katsina state Police Command:

ARREST/BUSTING OF NOTORIOUS KIDNAP SYNDICATE, RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM : On 29/3/2019 at about 0200hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of kidnappers terrorizing Kurfi, Batagarawa, Safana, and Batsari LGAs of Katsina state. Nemesis caught up with the hoodlums when they kidnapped one Hajiya Habiba, ‘f ‘, aged 65yrs of Yar-Liya’u village, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state at her resident and demanded the payment of fifteen million naira (N15 000 000:00K) ransom for her release. The Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) acting on intelligence rescued the victim and arrested the following suspects:
Abdulrahaman Ashiru, ‘M’, aged 30yrs
Umar Sada, ‘M’, aged 55yrs
Isyaku Yau, ‘M’, aged 28yrs
Aminu Musa, ‘M’, aged 30yrs
Halliru Musa, ‘M’, aged 32yrs,
Sirajo Umar, ‘M’, aged 38yrs
Adda’u ‘M’ (now at large) all of Yar’gamji village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state.
Exhibits recovered from suspects include, one locally made Dane gun, two Matchetes and the sum of two hundred and eighteen thousand (N218,000.00k) Naira. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS MEMBER OF CATTLE RUSTLING, ARMED ROBBERY AND KIDNAPPING SYNDICATE AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK 47 RIFLE WITH BREECH NO. 1977: On 15/03/2019 at about 16:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Umar Usman alias “ORI” ‘m’, aged 45yrs of Garin Dan –Gambo village, Safana LGA of Katsina state, a member of notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate terrorising Safana and Batsari LGAs of Katsina state. In the course of investigation one AK 47 rifle with breech No. 1977 was recovered in his possession. Suspect is assisting the police with useful information that may lead to the arrest of other members of his syndicate.

ARREST OF A SUSPECTED FEMALE KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF TRAVO-21 RIFLE, BREECH NO.38801176 WITH SEVENTY NINE ROUNDS OF 5.6MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On 11/04/2019 at about 13:00hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in raiding a criminal hideout at Sabon Layin Sira village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state. After a fierce encounter with the bandits, the Police team succeeded in dislodging them. A search was immediately carried out in the camp and the following exhibits were recovered:

One unregistered Boxer Motorcycle
National ID Card
However, on the same date at about 17:00hrs, one Safiya Alh Yakubu, ‘f’, aged 14yrs of Runka village, Safana LGA of Katsina state was arrested roaming around the camp. In the course of investigation, she confessed to be the wife of the owner of the recovered rifle, one Alh Yakubu ‘m’ of Runka village, Safana LGA of Katsina state and mentioned three others now at large. Investigation is ongoing.

BEING IN POSSESSION OF ONE LOCALLY MADE REVOLVER PISTOL AND SIX (6) ROUNDS OF 0.8MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On 11/04/2019 at about 02:00hrs, Police patrol team attached to Dutsinma Division while on routine patrol, along Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina state, accosted one Jibrin Anas, ‘m’, a level 200 student of Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina state in possession of one locally made revolver pistol with six rounds of 0.8mm live ammunition. Investigation is ongoing.

RECOVERY OF ONE AK 47 RIFLE BREECH NO.89-11825 WITH TWO ROUNDS OF 7.62MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On
26/03/2019 at about 15:00hrs, a firewood cutter, one Aliyu Sani, ‘m’, aged 25yrs of Sabon Layi village, Faskari was reported to have been attacked by bandits in the forest. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. The team succeeded in dislodging them and recovered one AK.47 rifle with breech number 89-11825 and two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition abandoned by the hoodlums.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS: On 21/03/2019 at about 09:30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting the duo of Sanusi Sani, ‘m’, aged 30yrs of Landan-Ketare village, Kankara LGA of Katsina state and one Bello Abdullahi, ‘m’, aged 30yrs of the same address, who on 04/03/2019 at about 21:30hrs, armed with dangerous weapons, blocked Tashar Kawu – Unguwar Zaki feeder road, Kankara and robbed one Abbas Halilu, ‘m’, aged 25yrs of Bada’u village, Kankara of his Techno Handset valued ten thousand naira (N10,000:00K) and unregistered motorcycle Bajaj valued one hundred and eighty thousand naira (180,000:00K) after beating him to a state of coma. In the course of investigation, suspects confessed to have sold the motorcycle at the cost of one hundred thousand (N100,000:00K) in Kano state. Suspects confessed to series of armed robbery incidents, terrorizing Kankara and its environs.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED BANDITS AND RECOVERY OF TEN UNREGISTERED MOTORCYCLES BY “OPERATION PUFF ADDER” KATSINA STATE POLICE COMMAND: On 12/04/2019 between 11:00hrs – 17:00hrs, operatives attached to “Operation Puff Adder” raided some criminal hideouts around Rugu forest which include Garin Waziri and Mahuta villages in Safana LGA and Ilella village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state. In the course of investigation the following suspected bandits were arrested:
Jamilu Abu, ‘m’ of Garin Waziri village, Batsari
Yarima Lawal, ‘m’ of Garin Waziri village Batsari
Tasi’u Tukur, ‘m’ of Garin Waziri village Batsari
Abu Audu, ‘m’ of Garin Waziri village Batsari
Samaila Abubakar, ‘m’ of Garin Wariziri village Batsari
Hamisu Bawa, ‘m’ of Mahuta village, Safana
Yusuf Inusa, ‘m of Mahuta village, Safana
Rabe Sani, ‘m’ of Illela village, Safana
Bilya Yakubu, ‘m’ of Illela village, Safana
Ibrahim Bawa, ‘m’ of Illela village, Safana
Yusuf Abdullahi, ‘m’ of Illela village, Safana
Abdullahi Ibrahim, aka “BOSS”

ARREST OF FUEL SUPPLIER TO SUSPECTED BANDITS: On 14/04/2019 at about 16:00hrs, based on a tip off, Police Patrol Team attached to Batsari arrested one Alhaji Sale Musa, ‘m’, aged 55yrs of Wagini village, Batsari LGA in possession of twenty-eight (28) jericans loaded with petroleum product inside a Toyota Carina II Saloon, green in colour, with registration number AW 382 RBC, trying to cross into Rugu forest with intent to sell it to bandits in the forest. In the course of investigation suspect confessed to the commission of the offence implicating the manager of G-Hayat Filling Station, Bakiyawa village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state, one Umar Isah, ‘m’, aged 33yrs of Kofar-Guga, Katsina as his cohort. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST/BUSTING OF SUSPECTED SYNDICATE OF RITUALISTS, FRAUDSTERS: On 12/04/2019 at about 20”00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Hassatu Isah, ‘f’, aged 30yrs of Jibia LGA of Katsina state, a suspected ritualist and a fraudster who deceitfully collected the sum of one million, nine hundred and ninety-two thousand naira (N1,992,000:00K) from one Rabi’u Haruna, ‘m’, aged 30yrs of Jibia LGA of Katsina state with intent to provide him with spiritual powers. Nemesis caught up with her when she could not deliver the spiritual powers to the victim and he demanded the return of his money. She then planned to kill him by hiring a specialized hired killer one Babangida Dalha, ‘m’, aged 30yrs of Jibia whom she contracted with the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000:00K) for the job. In the course of investigation, suspects were arrested and confessed to have administered poison with intent to kill the victim which failed. And they eventually resorted to physical killing of the victim before they were arrested. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER AND EXPERT ARMS REPAIRER OF THE BANDITS: On 20/02/2019 at about 21:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Sani Ibrahim alias “KWALBA’, ‘m’, aged 45yrs of Moniya village, Safana a notorious member of kidnap syndicate and expert arms repairer. In the course of investigation suspect confessed to have kidnapped one Dahiru Bello and Mallam Tashi both ‘m’ of Salihawa village Safana and extorted the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000:00K) ransom. He also confessed to have specialized in servicing arms of the bandits in the forest.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CATTLE RUSTLER/ARMED ROBBBER/KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK47 RIFLE WITH TEN ROUNDS OF 7.62MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On 24/02/2019 at about 17;30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Alhaji Bello, alias “MOBE”, ‘m’, aged 48yrs of Danmusa LGA of Katsina state a notorious member of cattle rustling, armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate. In the course of investigation one AK47 rifle with ten (10) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered in his possession. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK 47 RIFLE: On 08/03/2019 at about 03:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Lamo, ‘m’ aged 45yrs, of Batsari LGA of Katsina state, a notorious cattle rustler and kidnapper. In the course of investigation one AK 47 rifle with ten rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and the sum of four hundred and fifteen thousand naira (N415,000) were recovered in his possession.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK47 RIFLE: On 6/04/2019 at about 16:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Shuaibu Adamu, ‘m’, aged 25yrs of Batsari LGA of Katsina state, a suspected member of kidnap syndicate. In the course of investigation one AK47 rifle was recovered in his possession during police search. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF MOTORCYCLE SNATCHERS: On 03/04/2019 at about 16:30hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting a notorious syndicate of motorcycle thieves terrorizing Sandamu and Daura LGAs of Katsina state. The following suspects: 1. Mundansuru Abubakar 2. Ibrahim Adamu 3. Shafiu Nasiru 4. Kabir Yammama all ‘m’ of Malumfashi LGA Katsina state were arrested when they deceitfully stole a motorcycle Boxer Chasis No.40613, valued N220,000:00K property of one Abdulsalam Sha’aibu, ‘m’, 20yrs of Sandamu LGA of Katsina state. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF KIDNAPPERS: On 24/02/2019 at about 14:30hrs, the Command succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of Kidnappers in Kafur LGA of Katsina state. SARS patrol teams acting on intelligence, arrested the suspects when they threatened to kidnap one Alhaji Hamisu ‘m’ of Nasarawa-Kankia village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state and demanded the payment of fifteen million naira (N15, 000,000:00K) ransom or he will be kidnapped. They are:
Sani Bello alias “RUGA”
Usman Bello
Yahaya Bello
Rabiu Abdulsalam all ‘m’ of Gurun Fulani settlement, Kafur LGA of Katsina state.
Suspects having being terrorizing Kafu and Malumfashi LGAs of Katsina state. Investigation is ongoing.
