Police Nab 90 Cultists in Anambra

Police Nab 90 Cultists in Anambra

During the week under review, the Command has recorded cases of interest to members of the Public as follows,

1. Police operatives attached to the Command Operations Puff Adder in conjunction with Special Anti Cult unit (SPACS) arrested at various locations within the State 90 suspected cultists in continuation of its Raids on their hideouts and blackspots as follows,

2. On the 31/06/2019 at OBOSI axis, 06 suspected cultists arrested. On 01/07/2019 at OGIDI , 06 suspected cultists arrested. 0n 02/07/2019 at IHIALA axis , 15 suspected cultists arrested. On 03/07/2019 at AWKA , 12 suspected cultists arrested. On 04/07/2019 at NSUGBE, 15 suspected cultists arrested. On 05/07/2019 at OKO , 12 suspected cultists arrested. On 06/07/2019, at ONITSHA axis, 18 suspected cultists arrested. On 07/07/2019, at IGBARIAM/AWKUZU axis, 06 suspected cultists arrested respectively.

3. From all the raids carried out, a total number of 90 suspects have been arrested. 28 were screened out, 15 suspects were charged to court. 12 suspects were placed under police supervision for being under aged while 35 others are undergoing investigation.

4. Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects includes six (6) machetes, three (3)daggers , one (1) black berret and some quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa.

5. Consequently, on the 8/7/2019 at about 11:pm,following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Ogidi Division in conjunction with vigilante group arrested at Nkwelle Ogidi one Praise Okolie Tochukwu ‘m’ of the same address.

6. Suspect conspired with his accomplices now at large and snatched at gunpoint a Toyota spider car with registration number FJK 54 CC from one Okpalaezekoli Ifeanyi ‘m’ of Omogba phase 1 OSHA around 7:pm same date.

7. suspect confessed to the crime and the vehicle was recovered in his possession and registered as exhibit.Case under investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.

8. Similarly, on the 9/7/2019 at about 9:30 am, Police detectives attached to Ogidi division arrested one Nwali Chibuzor ‘m’ of Eke Nkpor in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

9. Suspect had on the 1/7/2019 at about 7:08pm,allegedly snatched a tricycle from one Uche John within Nkpor area.

10. The tricycle was recovered from the suspect along Idemili bus stop Nkpor and the plate number was changed from Anambra HAL 776 WQ to Enugu NSK 177 QW.

11. Case under investigation after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.

Also Nab Armed Robbers
On the 13/7/2019 at about 5:30pm,following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Central Police Station Awka arrested one Chukwudi Okeke ‘m’ aged 20 years of Umuarama village and Faith Esomchi ‘m’ aged 19 years of Umudioka village Awka respectively.

2. Suspects had on the 4/3/2019 at about 8:25pm,shot and snatched a tricycle from one Nwadoanwe Ndukwe ‘m’ of Umuakwali village Awka at Amaku general hospital gate.

3. Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects includes,
(i) One fabricated double barrel pistol,
(II) One Toy gun and Six live cartridges.

4. Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.

2.2 ASSAULT OCCASIONING HARM:

On the 13/07/2019 at about 4:35pm,a young man whose name and address is yet to be ascertained had quarrel with one Onyeka Nwachukwu ‘m’ aged 38 years at Ngbuka old Auto Spare Parts market in ugwuagba, Awada.

2. In the heat of the altercation, the suspect who is presently on the run attacked the following persons with substance suspected to be acid. They are,

1. Onyeka Nwachukwu ‘m’ 38years
2. Ofili Benjamin ‘m’ 32years
3. Ofili Damian ‘m’ 42years
4. Okoro Ebuka ‘m’ 23 years
5. Ekwueme Anayo ‘m’ 35years
6. Nnamani Chukwu ‘m’ 23 years
7. Obiora Chidubem ‘m’ 18years
8. Obasi Solomon ‘m’ 24 years respectively.

3. Police Patrol team attached to Awada Division visited the scene and rushed the victims who suffered various degrees of injuries to St. Martin’s hospital, Ugwuagba, Obosi for treatment.

4. Meanwhile, Six of the victims have been treated and discharged while two others are responding treatment.

5. Case under Investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to Justice.

6. Meanwhile, the Command urged the Public to be Security conscious and report suspicious persons carrying substance inside a container at unusual places in order to avert such ugly incident please.
