COWA Frees 19 Prison inmates in Sokoto

The Correctional officers Wives Association(COWA) under the leadership of Hajiya Gwamma Ahmed Ja’afar(Uwar Marayun Kalgo) freed 19 inmates in Sokoto state Command,today 12th March,2020.

In her address to the freed inmates,the COWA state chairperson Sokoto state Command,Hajiya Sa’adatu Idris Muhammed, who represented the COWA national President, Hajiya Gwamma Ahmed Ja’afar during the event,challenged the freed inmates to be of good conduct and lives a life free of crime in the society.Three hundred and nine thousand naira fine (300,009) was paid by COWA national body, to secure the release of 19 inmates with minor offences, from the four custodial centers in the state,namely; Sokoto,Gwadabawa,Tambuwal and Wurno custodial centers.

Responding,officer in charge Sokoto medium security custodial centre, DCC Idris Muhammed,on behalf of the Controller of Corrections,Sokoto state Command, Sabo Sama Chafe,commended the giants stride by COWA in giving the freed inmates new chance in life and urged the release inmates to reciprocate this laudable gesture by living a normal life, free of crime in their respective communities.

Highlights of the event was group photographs and the release of freed inmates.
