COVID 19: Imo Govt Grants Amnesty to 51 Prison Inmates
A total of 51 inmates have regained their freedom in Imo Command courtesy of His Excellency’s amnesty and the jail delivery by the State Chief Judge.
Governor Hope Uzodinma, represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice had earlier granted amnesty to 36 inmates of the Command and #5000 each for their transport while the state Chief Judge, Justice Ijeoma Aguguo early in the week during a jail delivery exercise released 15 inmates from Owerri Custodial Centre and granted bail to few inmates.
Speaking,the Controller of Corrections Chris Okoye thanked His Excellency and the Chief Judge for the application of their constitutional powers.
The released inmates were advised to be of good behavior and to keep away from crime.
