Zulum’s Convoy: Again, Boko Haram Terrorists Kill Soldiers, Police, Civilian JTF in Monguno-Baga Axis

At least 15 security personnel including soldiers were killed by Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush on the convoy of Borno State Governor, when he was a tour between Monguno and Baga axis.

PRNigeria gathered that the terrorists fired several shots using sophisticated weapons from different locations at the convoy.

The attack left mainly security personnel comprising eight policemen, three soldiers and four Civilian Joint Task Force operatives dead.

The governor was on his way to Baga in preparation for the planned return of internally displaced persons from Maiduguri to the camps in Baga.

Earlier before the ambush, Boko Haram terrorists had attack dozens of persons including IDPs who were returning from Maiduguri and Monguno to Baga for the resettlement of displaced persons scheduled for Saturday September 26.

The terrorists had ambushed the convoy along Monguno -Baga road a few kilometres to a military base at about 11:30am, security sources said.

They had fired several shots injuring some of the IDPs and other travellers on the convoy.

Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum had recently inaugurated a committee for the resettlement of IDPs from Maiduguri and Monguno back to Baga, a town some 158 kilometres (about 97 miles) away.

The resettlement was scheduled to take place today Saturday (September 26, 2020) with scores for IDPs, government officials and security personnel already in the town for the exercise.

Friday’s incident is the second attack on the governor’s convoy in recent times around Baga
